The steps outlined below will provide you with a structured approach toward the review and analysis of Engaged@Way-of-Work engagement survey responses. The approach as outlined below can also in general terms be used for the analysis of any survey's results.
Please note that as an added service to our Clients and Mindset Partners, Mindset can provide you with a high-level data analytics (quantitative) review and observations report, done by a qualified I/O psychologist. The short 8-page report will be based on a high-level review of a client's Engaged@Way-of-Work engagement survey results, and can either be use by a client as-is, or can be incorporated as an input or part of a Partner's more comprehensive OD recommendations report (preferred alternative). Summary of the Data Analytics Method Steps
The approach is based on a systematic, analytical and structured analysis process that will hopefully result in predictable and consistent results. It will however remain the responsibility of the HR or OD consultant/expert to add value by not merely interpreting and stating the obvious, but by reading between the lines and by discerning subtle cross-dimensional trends and patterns that may have a totally different meaning when interpreted within the context of the client’s work environment and organizational culture.
IMPORTANT: No statistics should be quoted in the report unless to prove a point, and no statement should be made unless it is substantiated by statistics.
The analysis should be done with the aid of the Engage Analytics platform, and should cover both the indicators and drivers of engagement (or inclusion) at organization and business unit level and per demographic where applicable. Take notes of all outliers, exceptions, and significant deviations, and try to understand or deduct what they mean/what the implications are (if any).
- Step 1: Validity of the survey – review of survey participation rates at business unit level to assess whether the survey is valid and adequately representative
- Step 2: Levels of engagement (outcomes) – observations and implications re outcomes via indicators (engagement levels) based on analysis of Willingness and Commitment, including demographics
- Step 3: Drivers of engagement – observations and implications re the main themes derived from an analysis of the drivers, including demographics and top/bottom scoring survey questions
- Step 4: Engagement per business unit – observations and implications re business unit indicators and drivers, critical review of top and bottom scoring business units
- Step 5: Summary of Observations – summary of observations and implications, grouped into related themes
- Step 6: Recommendations – suggested interventions and actions based on the main conclusions/themes from the previous step
